INTRO

We should all be "intro complete" tonight. This takes us to page 11.

I love the way the entire idea of 7 was birthed. I can hear such humility and a desire to simply repent in this fast and experiment.  I bet no one (counsel) had a clue this would be so inspiring. I thank God I ever found out about this because it began to educate me on things that I literally feel sick over because truth is..."things" have  had me -BIG TIME.

So what grabbed you?  Do you feel like you want to tackle each month in your own experiment?  Are you in a group reading this together or are WE the group?  Love it if this is a place you feel welcome and included because you so are.  My prayers for you will not stop as we do this together.

I think my favorite part of this introduction into the  book, is the eye opening realization of what is the world's avg income. Who am I comparing my stuff to in order to decide who is wealthy or what I should have to be in style?  YUCK.

Am I an excessive person?  I can say in lots of areas my parents raised a very simple girl. I have zero clue of the brands others see significance in. I'm not at all ashamed to have no make up on and most often I wear a non fitted t shirt and flip flops. I'm extremely loud and have a very immature sense of humor. But truth be told- I have faith that is based on the good things God has given me. If a tornado were blowing through my house - I have no idea how I would respond. I have excess beyond excess. I trust in the American way and that means THINGS and STUFF make a man. Ewe.
But... I am learning. I am learning that I should not blog because I don't check my spelling and could care less if sentence structure exposes my former grades.

I went to foster training last weekend because I'm learning I am so wanting to welcome a child while helping parents regroup and get ministered to so they can all be together.

I ate Kale salad which should have gagged me but it didn't.  Don't know why I said that but feel super proud I did something so veggie.

I have women over every Tuesday evening and although I want it warm and cozy - I no longer freak that the throw pillows are not positioned just so. I want my girls there sharing our love for Jesus not my idea of clean.   I want friendships and relationships and crying and laughter and real.

Let me know your thoughts. This is no group at all if I'm the only member. :)

  1. WHO’S READY FOR WEEK 1???

Driving home last week I was thinking about what I was going to pick for our first week of 7. I wanted to really start off with a bang and of course meaning! Well, literally out of nowhere it hit me like a ton of bricks. My church a while back did a fast in light of “third world” countries which included eating only rice, beans and water for a week. Now, before all of you fall out of your chairs and pass out on me before this even starts hear me out!!! This fast included amounts as in a cup of that or a ½ cup of this each day so it literally was torture!!!! I won’t torture you too much. Anyway, I think this week is probably going to be the hardest for all us mostly because we all rely so much on food when we want, where we want, how we want… where as clothes, eh who cares if you see me wearing the same shirt or same pair of jeans twice a week and I think we can suck it up and save some money for a week instead spending (it might even be good for a rainy day) and media well I honestly feel media has taken over this world and we could use a little break. So here’s the good stuff..get out your pens and paper!!

Rule 1: You can only pick one type of each of the list below to eat the entire week. Yes, I said one for the entire week!!

Rule 2: Condiments (ie. Ketchup, ranch, mustard, cheese) all count as one item!!!

Rule 3: Seasonings also count (for some of us I think laying off the salt a bit might be helpful the next time we go see the Dr)

Rule 4: Be honest!!! If not with the people around you or here in the group with yourself! You might like the end results!!

Rule 5: If you fall off get right back on and start over. We wont judge!!

    So here you go:

    1. Beans

    2. Rice

    3. Water

    4. Nuts

    5. Veggie (no starches that means potatoes and corn do not count in this category)

    6. Fruit (anything with a seed so tomato is a yes and avocado is a yes)

    7. Wildcard

Okay, so there you have it! And after looking back we have it made compared to the starving kids in Africa!! So this week remember your mom and dad telling you as a kid, who didn’t like that they didn’t get pizza for every meal or chicken nuggets and a happy meal, “there are starving kids in Africa who would love to have what you have on your plate!”

One last note, remember you can only pick one type of each item for the entire week so if you pick black beans, white rice, almonds, green beans, and apples that is your menu the rest of the week. And finally for the wildcard it is one item…ONE ITEM..so that means if you really cant live without salt or cheese or Ranch or a diet coke…or even bbq potato chips then that would be your wildcard but you can only pick one for the entire week and you cant change it Wednesday when you are ready to vomit all the vanilla ice cream you decided you couldn’t live without!! No combinations either…pizza doesn’t count as one!!

Alright, now it is up to you ladies!! I can’t wait to hear all the fun stories! I encourage you to get your family involved too..it may teach your little ones a lesson or it might even help your husband see just how great of a cook you really are on a typical day!

    HAPPY EATING!!!
